This late production Jaguar 240 may, at first glance, be a little tatty but it’s a nice running and very usable car that with a bit of TLC could easily be brought up to a really nice standard.

With many thousands of pounds spent over recent years, it’s certainly been well maintained. Works completed include a new clutch in 2022, overdrive wiring / solenoid replacement in 2021, replacement fuel tank in 2018, new wiring loom and electrical connections in 2016 and other assorted works and scheduled services.

Starts and drives without fuss and pulls through the gears without any sign of grinding or looseness in the shift. The brakes are nice and firm and steering is assured. Whilst we can’t warrant the 54,000 miles on the clock we do believe that this is a genuine mileage based on old MOT records and the fact that the car was in storage for a number of years

Inside appears complete with all gauges and switches in place and working. The dash is sound but may benefit from a re-varnish. Seats are in good condition with no damage and plenty of support. The door cars are functional but a bit tired looking. Similarly the black paintwork is average and somewhat dulled. Chromework is all in place and in decent condition overall. The underbody appears largely solid although the front-left jacking point may need light attention for the next MOT.

The previous owner – who had the car since 1994 - has told us that this car was, in a previous life, used as a campaign vehicle for a number of political figures including Michael Foot, Tony Benn and Ken Livingstone!
