Recently arrived from Italy, we offer this superb and completely original early LHD example of Ford’s third generation 12M saloon. Having spent most of its life in Sicily, we understand that the car moved with its doctor owner to Milan for a few years with only limited use before arriving on these shores. Hardly surprising that there are just 47,000km showing on the clock which we have no reason to doubt as anything other than genuine.
This handsome Taunus (aka Cortina) presents very well both inside and out. The white paintwork isn’t flawless but has an attractive patina with no signs of any corrosion – presumably one of the many benefits of leading a quiet life in sunny climes. The chrome is in excellent condition with original hubcaps and trim all present and correct. The inside retains an early-‘60s chic: comfortable, airy and practical.
The car drives extremely well with no mechanical issues apparent. The 1183cc V4 engine pulls nicely through the gears with no gripes or groans. Road holding is good and the brakes bring the car to a halt without drama. The car will be sold with a new MOT for peace of mind.
This is a fantastic opportunity to own an extremely but very usable classic motor car. Viewing highly recommended.
